On September 15, 2020  the ALE "Kazakhstan Union of People Living with HIV" held a National Consultation in Almaty with the participation of nongovernmental organizations working in the field of TB and HIV and with the support  of TB-REP 2.0 project.

The purpose of the event was to discuss key criteria for establishing an effective Case Management Algorithm for cases of violation of the TB patients’ rights, taking into account gender aspects. In order to coordinate the development of the terms of reference for the creation of the Algorithm, the setting up of a working group on gender issues was initiated.

Oksana Ibragimova, the project coordinator presented the results of a study conducted within the country project “Evaluation of Access Barriers to TB Diagnosis and Treatment for Key Population”, which is being implemented by the Kazakhstan Union of People Living with HIV with the support of the regional TB-REP 2.0 project and with the participation of partners from governmental, international and non-governmental organizations.

She spoke about barriers and recommendations related to legal environment, gender and stigma for key populations within the TB response.

We would like to remind that the goal of the country project is to remove gender and human rights barriers to TB control and improve timely access of key populations to TB treatment.
