In Ukraine, educational activities led by health workers and coordinated by Tbpeople Ukraine continue to present the possibilities and benefits of the OneImpact app for people with TB and their families.
Thus, people with TB who are being treated at the Cherkasy regional TB dispensary took part in a training to familiarize themselves with and test the functions of the unique mobile application OneImpact.
OneImpact allows the users to learn about the rights and obligations of patients, to find the nearest medical institutions and nongovernmental organizations where they can get legal assistance and socio-psychological support, to get acquainted with the principles of modern approaches to treatment and information about the side effects of medicines, as well as with how they can counteract stigma and discrimination in society.
The training was conducted by a medical worker of the institution, who was trained in patient counselling by TBpeople Ukraine.
OneImpact implementation in the EECA region is carried out by the country partners of the TB REP 2.0 regional project coordinated by the PAS Center.
In 2018, PAS Center together with implementing partners have designed a new regional project (TB-REP 2.0) to advance towards people-centered approaches ensuring provision of quality TB and DR-TB care and prevention in EECA region, based on previous experience and lessons learned from the implementation of the regional TB-REP program designed to contribute to strengthening health systems’ responses to TB in the longer term. The overall goal of TB-REP 2.0 is to foster timely TB case detection and improved treatment outcomes in patients with special emphasis on drug-resistant TB, in eleven EECA countries through meaningful involvement of communities and civil society and integrated people-centered TB care delivery systems able to address the needs of key and vulnerable populations. The program incorporates the full spectrum of DR-TB prevention and care issues, targeting both health and sustainable community systems for improved quality and strengthened people-centered approaches in TB care delivery.
